According to some of the latest research consumers spend 3.3 hours per day on their Smartphones. In view of that it is hardly startling that 85% of Smartphone owners stated that mobile is a central part of their daily life. Smartphones have fast become something consumers can’t leave home without, just like their wallet and keys.

Smartphones are used, by people for everything from social media sites, interacting with friends and researching information. In particular people search for products and services whilst out and about.

According to a Neilson,xAd, Telemtrics Mobile Path to Purchase Study 2013 over half (55%) of mobile researchers ultimately make a purchase. The study also stated that 77% of those purchases were made in person in a local business.

Because so many people are using their, iPhones, Andriod and tablet devices to browse the web it is vital that your website is mobile friendly. What this means, is that your site will display content quickly and can be seen easily on smaller screens without them having to pinch and zoom to see your content.

The vast majority of small business websites don’t have a mobile friendly design in place and this is a disaster for their business. A study by Google of mobile found that 61% said they would not return to a mobile unfriendly site. This means that those site owners are missing out on lots of opportunities to sell their products and services to the growing army of people using their mobile devices.
